April sees the completion of Falconer Chester’s latest project: a refurbishment programme for the Bank of Ireland in Liverpool. This £300,000 refurbishment is a complete new fit out of their bank premises encompassing new customer banking hall and cashiers box with a new staff administration support facility. The client’s brief was challenging as they wished to maintain the traditional ethos of the bank whilst demonstrating a progressive, more up to date image. Falconer Chester’s solution utilises a palette of traditional and contemporary materials, creating a one off bespoke design integrating the banks corporate identity. The end result has a ‘retro’ feel and is dynamic. Whilst the open space of the banking hall is maintained, various screens and planes create more intimate spaces within. The materiality echoes the banks relaxed informal atmosphere, whilst pushing the ‘business’ image of the bank.
