East Village

Print Case Study

East Village is a new residential urban district in Liverpool located on the fringe of the Ropewalks area. The area comprises six buildings organised around new urban squares connected with new streets lined with leisure and commercial uses. Falconer Chester are responsible for the design of two blocks fronting Duke Street/Kent Street and in particular the five storey ‘L’ shaped building forming Madison Square behind. The building comprises basement car-parking, ground floor commercial/leisure with residential above and totalling 41 apartments.

The building is predominantly clad in faced brickwork, with silver metal cladding to gables with the penthouse level stepping back to give generous rooftop gardens and providing a scale to suit the smaller Georgian Architecture along Duke Street. Galvanised projecting balconies, have been introduced to give amenity space to the apartments whilst also providing some depth and scale.
