Located on Liverpool’s waterfront adjacent to Brunswick Dock, this scheme for Caber Developments Ltd includes 101 apartments, ground level commercial spaces with associated parking at ground and basement levels.
The building has been designed as two distinct blocks of 15 and 9 storeys, separated by the circulation core that is expressed as it rises between the two blocks. The curved shape of the taller block has been extruded from the ground and replicates the curve of the original masonry wall of the former dock entrance. This is both an historical gesture making a connection with the site's heritage, and giving a modern dynamic façade to the road and provides a robust platform off which to build.
The second block is smaller in scale with a different manner of fenestration reflecting the robust unfussy nature of most dockside buildings.
