Quay 5 is a residential scheme comprising 237 apartments, split between five blocks and situated on Ordsall Lane, Salford. The brief was to strike a balance between providing affordable housing, with our client’s aspiration to achieve a living environment matching the quality and standards evident in higher budget solutions in nearby Manchester City Centre.
The key to achieving these diverse aims was through the use of a timber frame structure, which greatly shortens the construction period. A simple palette of facing materials was used to achieve an overall affect which is striking and contemporary.
The first block will be completed in October 2005, with the final block being completed during the Autumn of 2006.
